about

NineFourOne is delighted to announce the re-release of the timeless track "Do That." Originally produced in March of 1999, this composition was featured as the B-1 cut on their fifth release, "100% Pure Breakin' Electro" (4:2OH! #005). The 12" vinyl edition was introduced in the late summer of that same year and also appeared on their first CD, Ill Behavior".

Taking a trip down memory lane, Sharaz recalls the early days of his career, when limited resources compelled him to produce and mix his music using a set of home stereo speakers connected to a stereo tuner. "Early tracks of mine from this era kind of sound something like music coming from another room with the door closed," he says. "I had two floor speakers off to my left side, hooked up to a cheap Pioneer stereo tuner sitting all the way across the room, and that's how I made those early songs," he adds. "Honestly, the improvement in the sound quality of this track is shocking to me."

Fast forward 24 years, Sharaz embraces the advancements in software and monitor technologies, allowing him to meticulously remaster his original recording. The remastered version of "Do That" demonstrates significant improvements, breathing new life into the track and providing a fresh listening experience. Comparing the remastered track side by side with the original version highlights the remarkable enhancements achieved. "The advancements in software and monitor technology today were unthinkable back then. We can now master 20-year old tracks in a way not possible before."

One notable accomplishment in the remastering process is the removal of muddiness and overpowering bass frequencies in the 40hz-120-hz range that plagued the original rendition. Sharaz's expertise shines through as he skillfully cleans up the audio, resulting in enhanced clarity and a more immersive sonic experience.

The re-release of "Do That" represents not only a return of a beloved track but also Sharaz's growth and evolution as an artist. This remastered version stands as a testament to the enduring nature of electronic music and its ability to transcend time.
