    Why?

Over the past 10 years, 12” DJ vinyl has all but disappeared. Streaming music and easily duplicated digital song files have pretty much killed the independent record store, not to mention nearly all brick and mortar distributors who supplied these stores. With no distribution and nowhere to sell vinyl, the market has shrunk to nearly nothing. It’s even more pronounced with regard to breakbeat vinyl – since breaks are so much a niche in the electronic music market that it has become seriously prohibitive to manufacture records these days. To see a vinyl pressing that’s not being released by a major label artist is extraordinarily rare.

But we miss vinyl record releases - and we need your help.

We know there is a small - but loyal - market out there who would gladly buy 12” breaks vinyl if it were available somehow. These are people who have not sold their 1200s but have very limited sources for new music on vinyl.

The truth is you cannot hold a digital song in your hands. Digital sounds a little too digital and misses the warmth inherent in vinyl. Plus we miss all the awesome artwork that came with some old school vinyl releases. Looking at a small digital thumbnail in place of a REAL album cover kinda sucks. Kind of like trying to have sex through a closed window...err nevermind!!

And that is what this project is all about: vinyl baby!

    The project:

This project is limited and will have a run of only 300 units, consisting of two (2) 12” vinyl records in a collector’s edition full color sleeve resembling an old school Nintendo game cartridge (hence the name "Project Nintendo"). "Project Nintendo"will consist of 6 breakbeat tracks, never before available on vinyl. This includes two new songs that will NOT be available anywhere except on this vinyl project for some time. All records can be autographed if need be.

We will cut each record with one track on the A side (45 rpm), and two tracks on the B side (33 rpm). Vinyl color will be black 150 gram vinyl with full color labels. Yes, we could run color or 180 gram vinyl, but it drives the price up beyond what we think people will pay.

This edition of 300 units will be the only copies pressed ever. Period. This is a true collectible, and likely the only NEW breakbeat vinyl release you will be able to buy anywhere - and at any price.

    The Cost:

The cost to produce a 12” record these days is significantly more than it used to be. Back in the day (like 13 years ago) we could manufacture a basic 12” wax pressing for a couple of dollars per unit. It’s now many times that…due in part to EPA requirements, the small number of pressing plants still operating and the cost of materials.

Vinyl stampers and plating is also more expensive than it used to be, so it's no wonder we see virtually zero breakbeat vinyl whatsoever anymore.

    The Price

A single copy of this limited edition double disc is priced $50 + shipping & handling. This amount covers all manufacturing, printing, freight etc.

    The Turnaround:

From what we are told, it’s looking like 12-17 weeks from submission of tracks to a completed project. Since this Kickstarter fund drive ends in February, we would expect delivery and end-user shipment of product by late May to mid June of 2015. Of course, like the last project, we are going to shoot for an early delivery.

    The Tracks:

"Project Nintendo" will contain six (6) tracks, one of which is being created right now and will be complete by the time the fund drive ends.

Includes unlimited streaming of New Sharaz Nintendo 2x EP w Poster via the free Bandcamp app, plus high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more.
